MacPip vs MacBase
Checked October 30, 2026
Short answer
Both are Mac-only directories with free listings. MacBase is further along, with more apps and categories, deals and an MCP server. On MacPip the followed link needs no badge, submitting needs no account, and sponsors sit in a separate labeled row instead of moving up the lists.
Checked on October 30, 2026, from MacBase's own pages. We run MacPip, so read this knowing that, and tell us at hello@macpip.com if anything here is wrong.

Where MacBase is ahead
- More to browse: far more apps and categories today.
- Tools for AI agents: a public MCP server, and makers can list an app through an agent. Our MCP server and API only read, so listing an app here still goes through the submit page.
- A head start: it has a working deals and alternatives section with real content.
Where MacPip is different
- The order: paying never moves an app in any list.
- The link: the same followed link for every listing, with no badge on your site.
- The label: paid spots show as Featured, say they are paid or earned, and their links are marked as sponsored.
- The numbers: our traffic is public, so sponsors can judge the price first.
Which should you use?
If you are a maker, use both. They are free, and a listing on one does not stop you from listing on the other. If you are looking for an app today, MacBase has more of them.
